Global Running Day, celebrated annually on the first Wednesday in June, is a worldwide initiative aimed at promoting running as a healthy activity and fostering a sense of unity among runners of all ages and abilities.

Fleet Feet Knoxville Running Club is hosting two races: the untimed 5K Fun Run will kick off at 6:30 a.m., and the timed 5K Run will commence at 7 p.m. both on Wednesday, June 5, 2024.

“We’re thrilled to once again host The Big Run 5K in Knoxville on Global Running Day,” said Shahin and Cheryl Hadian, owners of Fleet Feet Knoxville. “It’s a wonderful opportunity for the community to come together, set goals and celebrate the joy of running.”

All registered participants will receive a commemorative T-shirt and medal with a portion of the event proceeds benefiting the Knox County Parks and Recreation Youth Scholarship Program, providing financial assistance to local youths in need.

In addition, the club has donated over $100,000 to various causes, including Catholic Charities, A Hand Up for Women, Smoky Mountain Service Dogs and more.

Registration is now open for both the Fun Run and the Timed 5K.

Additionally, for those looking to tackle their first 5K or improve their running performance, a training program is available with weekly sessions designed to help participants reach the finish line with confidence.
