Local artists Shelley Mangold and Jean Hess along with A1LabArts board member Bob Thompson celebrated World Collage Day 2024 on Saturday, May 11, by holding a workshop at the Knoxville Museum of Art.
World Collage Day is an annual, international celebration of collage held on the second Saturday of May. Started in 2018 by Kolaj Magazine, Shelley Mangold was inspired to recognize the day in Knoxville by leading a workshop similar to one she attended in Lisbon, Portugal, last May.
The free collage-making party was sponsored by A1LabArts and was open to all artistic levels, requiring no experience. All materials were provided.
While the event was free, there was an opportunity to donate to Bridge Refugee Services.
