A trip into Cades Cove is usually made memorable with the spotting of some ever-present deer, the occasional bear and, if lucky, a nice coyote. Birds are abundant along with a variety of other critters if you keep your eyes open and slow down.

Most early mornings as you enter the cove, there is also a herd of horses waiting to begin their workday taking tourists and young cowboy wannabes into the forest on horseback. My Nebraska roots often tell me to stop and have a talk with them and maybe even shoot a few images.

With this photo, I like the way the fog hangs on the ground with the sun just starting its daily trip across the cove.

Photographer Chris and painter Robin Rohwer each week share a painting or photograph that captured their interest in hopes that it will also capture yours. They have a small studio and gallery in the Phoenix Building at 418 South Gay Street where you can stop and see their work.
