My hike on Friday, September 6, 2024, was on the Little River Trail from its beginning to Huskey Gap Trail. Here’s what I saw:

  • Asiatic Day Flower – Few – Still at peak bloom.
  • Cardinal Flower – Many – At or just beyond peak bloom – be sure to look across Little River along the bank.
  • Coreopsis – Few – At or just beyond peak bloom.
  • Flowering Spurge – Few – Well past their peak bloom – about gone.
  • Golden Rod – Some

Great Lobelia

  • Great Lobelia – Few – Almost at peak bloom.
  • Heal All – Some – Past peak bloom.
  • Ironweed – Few – Right at peak bloom – brilliant color.
  • Pale Jewelweed – Many +++ – At peak bloom – One high slope has cover of these bright flowers.
  • Saint John’s Wort – Few
  • Spotted Jewelweed – Few – Past peak bloom.
  • White Snake Root – Few – Just starting to bloom.
  • White Top Aster – Many ++ – Many at peak bloom.
  • Whitewood Aster – Some – At peak bloom – some just starting to bloom.
  • Wild Golden Glow – Many – At peak bloom (in the second mile up the trail).
