According to Feeding America, the nation’s largest domestic hunger-relief organization, 1 in 6 people receive food assistance from the charitable food sector and Second Harvest Food Bank of East Tennessee , local member of Feeding America, estimates over 200,000 East Tennesseans are at risk of hunger.
One area church made its mission to partner with Second Harvest Food Bank of East Tennessee and open a food pantry to the community every 1st Wednesday of the month going forward from 5:30-7 p.m. The pantry will have frozen meats, produce, dairy and pantry items!
If you are in need at this time, remember the 1st Wednesday of the month to stop by West View Community Church. The church says, “We are so happy to be able to serve our community in this way!”
If you are not in need at this time, remember we can make a difference by staying mindful of donation opportunities to food banks and pantries, because our donations to these organizations help provide essential food and resources to families and individuals who are struggling with food insecurity. As a local pantry worker said, “Your donations can make a significant impact in our community and help alleviate hunger for those in need.”
