Former Tennessee Vol and Fulton High School basketball player Bill Justus will be memorialized at the Fulton High School gym on Monday, Sept. 30, at 6:30 p.m.

Organizer Randy Webb said there’s no charge to attend and everyone is welcomed.

At Fulton High School, Bill Justus was all-state in football in 1964 and all-state in basketball for 1964 and 1965. He was all-American in basketball in 1965.

He enrolled at the University of Tennessee in 1965 as part of the freshman football team. Coach Ray Mears convinced him his future lay with basketball. In 1967, Bill helped the team win the SEC championship. As a three-year starter, he earned all-SEC honors three years in a row. He was recognized as an NCAA Basketball Academic All-American in 1968.

During his senior year, Bill was captain for the Vols, earning the title of NCAA all-American and showcasing his unmatched free-throw shooting prowess, claiming the NCAA free throw shooting championship in 1969 with an accuracy rate exceeding 90%.
