Life happened and I missed the rhododendrons at Roan Mountain State Park this year. Then I missed mother nature’s fireworks show of flame azaleas on Gregory’s Bald. But, thanks to a friend monitoring his sunflower field, Robin and I were right on time for this year’s crop of yellow beauties.

We were out in the evening light last week to see these yellow-faced sentries standing tall over the field. Whether from the front or the back, they make an interesting subject. Here are three images from that excursion.

There are sunflower fields all over East Tennessee. Check with friends or social media and, if you can find them, they are fun to see and enjoy

Photographer Chris and painter Robin Rohwer each week share a painting or photograph that captured their interest in hopes that it will also capture yours. They have a small studio and gallery in the Phoenix Building at 418 South Gay Street where you can stop and see their work. Their website is www.ChristopherRobinArts.com.
