On Saturday, July 20, Strength to Stand Ministry joined the staff and residents of Beverly Park Place Health and Rehab for a bingo event.

Strength to Stand Ministry, affiliated with Unite Knoxville and the Evangelistic Association, provides a mission experience for churches and youth groups by seeking opportunities for students who participate to discover the call of God on their life by sharing the good news of Jesus Christ in the local community.

Susan Smith, activities director for Beverly Park Place, said the energetic group of students served the Knoxville community by visiting not only with the staff and residents of Beverly Park Place, but also Hillcrest Healthcare’s West Hills and Island Home locations.

In addition, the youth visited and sponsored block parties at World’s Fair Park, Emory Ridge Senior Living, Emerald Youth Foundation, Angelic Ministries and KARM.

Spencer Thomason and Jacob Williams coordinated the event with Thomason taking the lead and scheduling role. Jacob Williams is the leader of a focus ministry at Beverly Park Place. He also serves on the board of Unite Knoxville and pastors Hopewell Church.

Up to 50 youth from several southern states attended each event along with their parents and siblings. Smith said one family was so moved by the connection with one of the residents they met, they reached back to send flowers.

Smith reiterated how thankful all the staff and residents were for the fellowship, fun and intergenerational engagement.

Beverly Park Place is one of three Hillcrest Healthcare locations supporting Knoxville families since 1960 with skilled nursing, rehabilitation and long-term care.
