Ronald C. “Ron” McPherson, 86, a well-known figure in business and education, has died. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. today (3/18) at Bridges Funeral Home with a service to follow at 7 p.m. Family and friends will gather at Woodlawn Cemetery at 1:45 p.m. Tuesday, March 19, for a 2 p.m. graveside service with full military honors.

Mr. McPherson served on the Knox County Board of Education, representing East Knox County, for eight years. He also worked as a field representative for former U.S. Rep. John Duncan Jr. and as a subpoena officer for the Knox County Sheriff’s Office.

He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army and a 70-year member of Riverdale Baptist Church. He worked with Atlas Powder Company for over 18 years, as well as being the owner of A1 Saw and Butcher Supply. He was a 32-degree Scottish Rite Mason and a member of the Shekinah Lodge #524.
