Gregory Ray Beeler, 65, of Seymour and Powell, prominent Knox-area civic enthusiast, died Friday at Tennova-Physician’s Regional Medical Center.

He was president of the Knox North Lions Club and a long-time supporter of the University of Tennessee Pride of the Southland band. As a UT student, he was a band member for four years.

Mr. Beeler was a graduate of Powell High School and the university. He was a member of Beaver Creek Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

He was preceded in death by wife Janie and parents, Ellis Ray and Essie Kathlynn Gregory Beeler. He is survived by aunt Mary Dowell and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

The family will visit with friends on Sunday evening, 6-8 p.m., at Berry Funeral Home, 3704 Chapman Highway. A graveside service is planned for 11 a.m. Monday at Woodlawn Cemetery. Dr. Thomas Sweet, Beaver Creek minister, will preside.
