Mike Asquith, 78, of Knoxville, passed away on May 23, 2023. His career as an educator spanned 40 years and began as a teacher at Karns High School before moving into several administrative roles including South-Doyle and Gibbs high schools.
He was among a cadre of educators who attended East Tennessee State University. About the same time or a little before, ETSU turned out folks like Sarah and Doc Simpson, Shirley and Stanley Underwood and others from Knoxville. Mr. Asquith had played football at Central High School and was recruited to play football at ETSU. He earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees there and returned to Knox County to teach. The family will receive friends from 2:30-4 p.m. Saturday, May 27, at Lake Hills Presbyterian Church with a Celebration of Life service at 4.
