In the dog days of summer, it’s hard to think of anything more satisfying than a cool, crisp slice of watermelon. Whether at the end of a long, hot day in the field; a church picnic, or a seed spitting contest, there is not a memory of watermelon that doesn’t bring a smile. Watermelons of my past were eaten outside, juice dripping down my chin, a salt shaker passed and a wonderful indulgence shared with neighbors.

These fond memories were the inspiration for this 12 X 12-inch oil painting. It’s still a treat, no matter how you slice it.

Photographer Chris and painter Robin Rohwer each week strive to share a painting or photograph that captured their interest in hopes that it will also capture yours.
