Tennessee Volunteers will host UT-Martin this weekend at Neyland Stadium, so it’s time for another UT Pep Rally, sponsored by Food City. This week’s event is tomorrow, Friday, Oct. 21, 3-6 p.m.at Malone Creek Food City off Schaad Road, just south of Oak Ridge Highway.

Our smoker will be on-site, selling roasted pork and more by the sandwich or the pound. There’s nothing better for Saturday’s tailgate or pre-game party. Pep rallies generally include UT cheerleaders and members of the dance team who will pose for photos with your little cheerleader.

Vendors provide free food samples and giveaways that include UT football tickets. There are contests, noise and general fun. Swing by after picking up the kids.

Powell businesses through the PBPA are already signing on as vendors as the next Pep Rally, set for Friday, Oct. 28, 3-6 p.m. at the Powell Food City. For information about a vendor booth, email store manager Todd Burnette. This event promises free hot dogs, on-site smoker for pulled pork BBQ, and attendees can register to win a year’s worth of free gas. (Must be present to win.)

Starbucks comes to Morristown Food City with the grand opening set for 9:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 24. The store is at 1105 E. Morris Blvd. This marks the company’s 43rd Starbucks location with a number of others planned.

Miss Food City 2023 will be selected on Saturday, Nov, 19, at 7 p.m. at The McGlothlin Center for the Arts at Emory & Henry College in Emory, Virginia. The winner will represent the company at store grand openings and other special events, including Food City 300 and Food City Dirt Race at Bristol Motor Speedway.
