Three police officers involved in this week’s fatal shooting at Austin-East are calling for immediate release of unedited tapes from officers’ body cameras.

Through attorney Don Bosch, KPD Lt. Stanley Cash, Officer Brian Baldwin and Officer Jonathon Clabough said, “In an effort to accurately inform the public, (we) fully support the release of all unedited body camera footage related to this incident.”

They continued: “As Mayor Kincannon has publicly expressed, she (agrees) that the public interest is best served by the immediate release of these videos.”

A-E student Anthony Thompson Jr. was killed April 12 near the end of the school day. School Resource Officer Adam Willson was wounded. The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation said that bullet did not come from Thompson’s handgun.

“In the days following this incident there has been significant confusion over what occurred,” the officers said in their statement. Atty. Gen. Charme Allen has so far refused to OK release of the tapes during an “active and on-going investigation.”
