The Knox County Public Library has a gem in its Farragut branch. Ms. Merry has started a Happy Kids Craft Club and in their first-ever meeting, they learned to paint canvases based on four unique designs.
I wasn’t joking about her being a gem because they are going to make jewelry next, so call the Farragut branch to register your child for the April 18 class: 865-777-1750.
Addelynn Slinger Named ‘Artist of the Week’
Farragut student Addelynn Slinger was name Artsonia Artist of the Week out of 247,000 student art submissions, receiving over 1,500 votes.
With the win, Addelynn won $50 for herself plus a $100 gift card for her classroom to Blick Art Materials.
Artsonia is an online program for artists to upload their work as a permanent database for their material. Farragut’s art class is going to be a pilot program in the district for Artsonia so artists can have a place to keep their art for posterity.
