The Knoxville Jazz Orchestra (KJO) is celebrating its 25th anniversary, opening the 2024-25 season with acclaimed guitarist and singer John Pizzarelli on Tuesday, October 15, 8 p.m. at the Bijou Theatre.
The concert will be giving a special tribute to The Beatles. “KJO Plays the Beatles featuring John Pizzarelli” is the first concert of the Big Band series.
John Pizzarelli has been hailed by The Boston Globe for “reinvigorating the Great American Songbook and re-popularizing jazz.” He has been a special guest on recordings for Natalie Cole and Dave Van Ronk and leading jazz artists such as Rosemary Clooney, Ruby Braff and his father, Bucky Pizzarelli.
