Last week, Fred M. Lowery, Joy Radice, Centro Hispano de East TN, and TVA were honored as the award recipients at the Knoxville Area Urban League (KAUL) Equal Opportunity Awards Gala.

Fred M. Lowery, senior vice president and president of Thermo Fisher Scientific, was awarded the Whitney M. Young Jr. Lifetime Achievement Award

Professor Joy Radice and The University of Tennessee College of Law Legal Clinic was awarded the Volunteer of the Year Award.

Centro Hispano de East TN, accepted by President and CEO Claudia Caballero, was awarded the Minority Business of the Year Award.

Tennessee Valley Authority, accepted by Executive Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer Jeannette Mills, was awarded the Corporate Leadership Award

This year’s event embraced the theme Empowerment in Action, paying tribute to the organization’s influence and featuring the iconic R&B group, Tony! Toni! Toné!, with D’Wayne Wiggins
