Photography is an excuse for me to be outside. Not every photographic excursion produces art; often not even a decent image to keep. Outings always produce a relaxing time and usually a fun memory.
On a fall trip to Cataloochee Valley, this young elk pulled up a mouthful of grass with a significant root ball. As she studied her predicament, tossing her head back and forth, up and down, I was able to fire off 15 or 20 shots. This activity caught the attention of another young elk that ventured over to see what was up.
It was only a few seconds of excitement for the young animals, but it created a laugh and fun series of entertaining photos for me. No photographic Pulitzer Prize here but a good memory that brings a smile every time I come across the photos on my computer.
