Jeff Daniel Marion, 81, of New Market, died July 29, 2021, of a heart attack. He was fixture at Carson-Newman University, working with writing students and founding the Appalachian Cultural Center over a 30-year career. He was the college’s first poet-in-residence and guided the literary magazine Mossy Creek Journal. He published nine books of poetry.
A memorial service is planned for 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 22, on the back lawn of the Appalachian Cultural Center at Carson-Newman University. Masks and social-distancing are requested. Additional obituary information here.
