Hattie answers the question, “If we eat turkey on Thanksgiving, what do turkeys eat?”
Turkeys are omnivores by nature. Seeds, insects, plants and berries are common foods. When different foods are abundant in different seasons, turkeys adjust their diets accordingly.
In spring, they eat more fresh buds, grasses and similar plant material, while insects and berries are more popular fare in summer.
As for bugs, turkeys like to chomp on ants, grasshoppers, beetles and spiders. Not sure Hattie is going to be able to look at tomorrow’s turkey on the table without thinking about those little bugs.
Creativity is tied to literacy and teacher Melissa Halter with her daughter Hattie are sharing periodic episodes of Crapper Mom and Crapper Hattie videos.
