Gresham Middle School received a grant for a hydroponic farm from Knox County Schools science department.
STEM teacher Vincent Dave, security officer Kimberly Mays, administrator Melissa Glover, and instructional coach Brad Cain worked with a group of students to grow and produce two different kinds of lettuce.
The students completed every part of the process – planting, checking and balancing the nutrients, harvesting the crops and working with the cafeteria staff to make salads.
Glover said, “I am so lucky to work with staff members who are committed to going above and beyond to give our students engaging opportunities!”
