Our beautiful waterways offer many flatwater paddling opportunities. Paddlers in canoes, kayaks or on standup paddleboards can float along the miles of river slicing right through the heart of the city.
Paddleboarding is a perfect blend of exercise and fun for paddlers of any age and skill level. By learning how to balance on top of the water, you build core body strength while enjoying a fun activity! If you are looking for a bit more exercise, replace your yoga mat with a paddle board – this emerging and popular activity will challenge your balance and skills.
Located in the Outdoor Knoxville Adventure Center, a hub for outdoor recreation activities and information, the Billy Lush Board Shop can get you geared up to paddle the Tennessee River. With the Bicentennial Park dock located right outside the rental shop, the riverfront access provides a convenient place for paddlers to put-in and experience downtown Knoxville from a different perspective. Billy Lush offers canoe, kayak and standup paddleboard rentals and if you’re new to the sport, you can sign up for one of the group classes or private instructions.
During a paddling excursion on the Tennessee River, you can experience the sunset over downtown Knoxville, witness the full moon rise over the river, or paddle alongside the abundant wild life such as river otters and beavers. Each excursion offers a unique way to travel with friends and come face-to face with the natural beauty of East Tennessee.
