Grace Christian Academy’s upcoming high school production of The Hound of the Baskervilles: A Comic Thriller Starring Shirley Holmes and Jennie Watson is generating a buzz among students, parents and the local community. Scheduled to take place Thursday, November 14, at 1 and 7 p.m. in the Grace Baptist Church Worship Center.
This adaptation of the original novel written by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle promises to blend classic literature with youthful energy and creativity.
Students in grades 9-12 auditioned the first week of school and have been rehearsing parts since, immersing themselves in their roles. The cast includes a diverse group of talented performers expected to be particularly dynamic, showcasing the actors’ abilities to balance drama and humor.
The talented team, directed by Ms. Tonya Wilson, has been working diligently on set design and costumes to create an authentic Victorian atmosphere. This includes detailed sets that reflect the eerie moorland and the imposing Baskerville Hall, setting the stage for the spooky mystery. Special attention is being paid to lighting and sound effects, aiming to enhance the suspense and thrill of the narrative.
With opening the one-day play being tomorrow, excitement is building, and ticket sales are expected to be strong so get to one of the two performances early. This production not only offers students a chance to showcase their talents but also invites the community to experience the timeless story of The Hound of the Baskervilles in a vibrant and engaging new format. With its mix of mystery, humor and theatrical flair, this play is sure to be a highlight of the school year.
