A distinct downtown icon, the Knoxville Area Transit (KAT) trollies make a lasting impression. There are three trolley routes and like the one in Mr. Rogers Neighborhood, there is no fare! A welcome sight for weary feet, consider your transit options as the sidewalks fill this spring.

“The mountain is high, the valley is low, and you’re confused on which way to go…” *

This painting shows the Green Line trolley promenading through downtown passing the Holston Building and Embassy Suites. The Green Line winds its way through Gay Street and The Old City, offering up free rides every 20 minutes.

It is a busy piece, showing the hustle of daily life, with shoppers and commuters and offering a tangible memory of our fun big town. Knoxville is a tourist draw, but the locals utilize and appreciate the service as well.

Come on and take a free ride.
