Knox County and the Tennessee Wildlife Resource Agency (TWRA) will sponsor Free Fishing Day from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday, June 10, at The Cove at Concord Park, 11808 S. Northshore Drive.

This event is geared toward families and children, allowing those who participate to fish without a license for the day.

Jared Effler, attorney general for the 8th District, reminds everyone that this Saturday, June 10, 2023, is Tennessee’s Free Fishing Day. Everyone may fish free in Tennessee’s public waters without a license on this day. Those 15 years or younger may fish without a license the entire week – June 10 through Friday, June 16. Knox TN Today leaves it to each reader to determine if Effler actually caught this fish on Norris Lake or if he’s just handy with Photoshop.

TWRA will stock the pond with catfish prior to the event, although the pond already contains my personal favorite bluegill and bass.

State representatives will be on hand to answer any questions.

This annual event allows anyone, but especially children, the opportunity to try this great outdoor sport and to celebrate fishing as a wholesome and healthy recreation option.
