The Dining Duo found another recommendation in a nondescript building heading toward Oak Ridge on Union Valley Road, just a few feet off S. Illinois Avenue: Woody’s Bar & Grill.
Recommended by reader Lee Tramel, this local favorite boasts no fried foods, no microwave and food cooked to order from only fresh ingredients.
The menu is another fun one to choose from Lil’ Woody to the U-233 Burger, Barnyard Burger to Billy Joe’s BLT. All burgers are made with Angus beef and the barbecue “melts in your mouth” as another friend described it.
I ordered the Hater Tater: Big Ol’ Tater with pulled pork, slaw and BBQ sauce. It was delicious, absolutely filling, and the pork was indeed “melt in your mouth.”
Partner ordered Salmon: Plump 8-oz serving of Salmon (sushi-grade) topped with roasted jalapeño corn, green onion and Sweetwater compound butter, rested on a bed of jasmine rice. Served with one side ~ chose collard greens. Partner said the salmon was cooked perfectly as were the greens and this dish would be certainly ordered again.
All desserts are homemade. Don’t miss the white chocolate banana mousse with nutter butters. It is mouthwatering, good!
This find was such a hit, we are taking a group of 16 back in August! Try this one for lunch or dinner.
