The Dining Duo were out again this week, this time near Brickey-McCloud School at The Burgers, corner of Emory Road and Dry Gap Pike.

The website gives three locations, one in Lenoir City and one on Sutherland Avenue, however the one on Sutherland is named Emma’s Southern Kitchen. Dining Duos is going there next to compare.

This corner treasure has been at this location for a while and with several readers making this recommendation, we were excited for this eating adventure.

Fried Mushroom basket

We were not disappointed and the servings are massive. The catch phrase on the website, “We’ll treat you so good for lunch, you will be back for dinner.” It should say they give you so much for lunch, you won’t have to worry about dinner.

There were more than a duo eating on this day and we started with the best fried mushrooms any of the group had eaten. A group of self-proclaimed fried mushroom experts, that is quite a review.

Shrimp basket

One of us got the fried shrimp basket with onion rings and took ½ of the meal home. Battered lightly and fried perfectly, both shrimp and onion rings were excellent.

Another of us ordered the catfish and exclaimed, “I will come here every time I want catfish. This is the best I have had.”

Oh, yes, the burgers. Two others did get burgers and had to take half the burger home due to the size but could not compliment the taste more.

Kara was an excellent server

The menu includes a variety of items from Hand Pattied Burgers; Pelican Choice, the fish choices; Runabout Cluckers, the chicken choices; and, of course, Dawgs and kids’ meals.

Once again, we had excellent service from Kara who recommended specials and knew we would need the boxes for our leftovers.

The Burgers is open M-F from 11 a.m.- 9 p.m. Closed Sunday. Get there early for up front parking and there is parking in the back.

The Dining Duo is looking for the “hidden gem eateries “where the locals fill the breakfast and lunch hour; those local haunts tucked into the out of way or right on the way places missed in the hustle and bustle of the day. Email us your recommendations at email here.
