The Dining Duo went as a group last week to Redbud Kitchen in south Knoxville, 906 Sevier Ave., Ste 110.

This highly recommended, out-of-the-way venue is spotlessly clean, with a wide variety of choices for the diner. The menu is categorized as Munchies, Smash Burgers, Bowls, Allegria, Fork + Knife, and Out of Hand which well describes the choices.

Munchies include wings, cheese curds, pickle chips, pork+tots and more.

Bowls and Smash Burgers reflect their names: salads and soups with a variety of burgers, respectively.

Allegria means “cheerfulness” and these choices are a variety of tacos and food bowls.

Fork + Knife is what one expects of a plated dish: shrimp and grits, Cajun salmon, meatloaf and more.

Out of hand means no fork and knife, offering a variety of paninis and sandwiches.

This duo with friends got Shrimp Tacos times two, a Funky Chicken sandwich and a Shroom + Swiss Smash burger. Raves from all about freshness, quality and taste. A box went home with the tacos.

Redbud Kitchen is closed on Mondays but open 11 a.m. – 9 p.m. T-S and 11 a.m.- 4 p.m. on Sunday. They take reservations. Parking is challenging so patience is a virtue, but perseverance a necessity.

The Dining Duo is looking for the “hidden gem eateries “where the locals fill the breakfast and lunch hour; those local haunts tucked into the out of way or right on the way places missed in the hustle and bustle of the day. Email us your recommendations.
