The Knoxville Police Department social media posted a celebration of Detective Mike Waggoner, who has now been with the Knoxville Police Department for 50 years! They called him “the one and only Detective Mike Waggoner.”
The post went on to read:
“Mike started with the KPD on November 11, 1974, and has served our organization in countless roles and assignments over the past five decades.
“More importantly, Mike has mentored hundreds of past, current and future KPD officers.
“Mike’s influence has been so great that a department award bears his name – the Mike Waggoner Leadership Award – which is presented annually to an officer who embodies the characteristics that the KPD wants to instill in future generations of officers.
“We sincerely appreciate Mike for his commitment to our department and dedication to the Knoxville community.
“He has left a mark that cannot be erased, and he will continue to make our department and city a better place!”
