Clark Duncan – 4-year starter at defensive back for the Tennessee Volunteers, head coach at Powell High School; became administrator at South-Doyle High; needed a football coach and hired himself. Duncan wins football games wherever he is.
This month, the field at South-Doyle was named for him. He has retired and, on Facebook, threatened to move to Cookeville where his son-in-law, Zac Hennigan, took a job as offensive coordinator at Cookeville High School.
Daughter Kendal has worked 15 years in football administration, five years at Vanderbilt and 10 at the University of Tennessee. At UT, she worked under coaches Fulmer, Kiffin, Dooley, Jones, Pruitt and now Josh Heupel. Have we really had six coaches in 10 years?
Duncan said, “I am honored South Knoxville has chosen to recognize me in such a special way. It is a tribute to so many, coaches, players, support staff, teachers, administrators and parents that have supported OUR Football Program!”

News from Stanley’s Greenhouse
The Stanley’s crew is planning a seed exchange this winter, possibly in January, although the time and date have not been set. “We announce this event now so you can save your seeds during the harvest season to exchange with other gardeners this winter. This will be a free event with no registration required.”
The Alzheimer’s Pansy Project kickoff date has been changed to Thursday, October 27, at 2 p.m.
“We hope you can join us for the kickoff event when the great folks from the Pat Summitt Foundation will be here at Stanley’s. If you cannot make it on Thursday, come by the greenhouse anytime during the fall season, buy trays of orange and/or purple pansies (the signature colors of Pat’s foundation), and let us know at checkout that you would like the proceeds of your purchase to support the Pat Summitt Foundation. We will do the rest.”
Info about the Pat Summit Foundation here or phone Stanley’s at 865-573-9591.
