Experience the Cattywampus Puppet Council and One World Circus outdoor performance on Friday, October 11, and Sunday, October 13, from 7-9 p.m. at the World’s Fair Park Amphitheater. The performance will include theater, giant puppets, marching bands, circus arts and a procession culminating in vertical dance on the side of The Tennessean Hotel.
In 2022, Cattywampus Puppet Council and One World Circus began developing a powerful “spectacle” inspired by Solastalgia (noun): a state of homesickness we feel when the places that matter most to us—our homes, our lands and our communities — are disrupted, changed or threatened.
The relevance of this theme has only deepened in the wake of Hurricane Helene, which has devastated neighboring areas of our region, taking lives, displacing families and destroying homes and livelihoods.
“Little did we know how timely it would be in this moment,” says Rachel Milford, executive and artistic director of Cattywampus Puppet Council. “Like all of you, we are grieving the catastrophe that continues to unfold in our region. We are also deeply grateful and incredibly proud as we watch our communities come together in acts of collective care during this moment of unspeakable crisis and tragedy.”
The event is free but reservations are requested: here.
