Carter, Gibbs, Halls softball at state tournament

Carter High softball is playing in the TSSAA state tournament for the first time in program history. The Lady Hornets defeated David Crockett 5-4 in the sectional championship game after winning the district and regional games in the days prior. On May 21, the team beat Upperman 11-4 to advance. Carters next opponent is Lexington, competing at 1 p.m. today (5/22).

The Gibbs High School softball team headed back to TSSAA state tournament after putting down Tennessee High 5-1 in sectional play. The Lady Eagles won their district prior to the sectional match-up. Gibbs won 11-1 over South Gibson on May 21 in the first round of the state tournament.  Gibbs next game is today (5/22) at 1 p.m. vs. Soddy Daisy.

Halls High is a third local team playing in TSSAA state tournament after winning several tournaments over the last several days. Halls won their district, region and finally the sectional championship, beating Morristown West 5-0. On May 21, Halls beat Henry County 2-0, sending Halls to a 10 a.m. game on Wednesday against Stewarts Creek.
