Carol Smith’s 90th birthday was a beautiful opportunity to honor a life rich in experiences and relationships with a birthday party at Fountain City Presbyterian Church on Saturday. Her children Paul, Suzanne and Brian invited everyone to celebrate this marvel of the community and the turnout reflected a steady stream of friends and family.
The fellowship hall celebration was filled with love, laughter and appreciation cherishing the moments spent together and celebrating the incredible journey of the life lived by this remarkable lady.
Carol has taught Sunday School to fourth and fifth graders at Fountain City Presbyterian for nearly 60 years, and still does today. Carol remembered a time when the Sunday school superintendent wanted to rotate teachers and this writer was one of the teachers who was to take Carol’s class. Carol was quite demonstrative about keeping her class and not rotating. She kept her class and I rotated to another.
Carol has three children mentioned above, eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Turning 90 is a remarkable milestone and it was an honor to recognize a life filled with experiences, wisdom and cherished memories.
