Looking for an easy and meaningful holiday tradition that your kids can look forward to year after year? I present to you, Bookvent!

Wrap 25 Christmas books, and each night in December, unwrap one book. This serves as a countdown to Christmas, and a fun way to be intentional about reading together as a family. It is also a great way to share in the love of books with your child(ren.)

You do not need to purchase 25 new books every year. You can simply wrap the books you already own year after year. Some books my girls do not remember reading the previous year(s); while others, they get so excited to see come back out. We put our Christmas book collection away after Christmas, so they have not seen these books for a year. I try to add one or two new books each year to our collection.

Check out this Bookvent Video.

It may take some time to build up your Christmas book collection, so here’s how I recommend doing this on a budget. First of all, reserve and check out books from the library. You can simply wrap these books. Second, take a look at McKay’s or any local used book store for inexpensive options. Finally, put Christmas books on your children’s wish lists that you may give to family members.

See this reel for the best Christmas book recommendations! Comment or direct message me the word CHRISTMAS on Instagram, and I will send you the list of all our favorites! This list can give you ideas of books to reserve from the library, or link you directly to books you may want to purchase for your collection.
