BarberMcMurry Architects has hired Andrew Cahill as an intern and Kelvey “Kel” Thompson as submittals coordinator.
Cahill graduated from The Catholic University of America, in Washington, D.C., last May, and has studied abroad in Barcelona and Rome. He plans to pursue his master’s degree at the University of Tennessee.
While in school, Cahill worked on conceptual projects including museums, vocational retreats, intergenerational facilities and the Luce di Passagio, a residential development in Rome. His display of a proposed “Presidential Smithsonian” was exhibited in the Crough Center for Architectural Studies. In college, he was a member of a design team that placed second in the Walton Critic Studio and third in the Competitive Building Design Studio. His professional projects include several residential buildings and row-homes.
Thompson recently relocated to Knoxville from Louisiana, where he had worked as a construction administration coordinator on multiple projects there and in southern Texas. As a CAC, he coordinated project information and monthly meetings between clients, general contractors and the design team and conducted administrative site visits.
Thompson attended the School of Architecture at Southern University and A&M College of Baton Rouge and has also worked as a carpenter and flood restoration project superintendent.
At BarberMcMurry, Thompson will be responsible for the flow of documents between project manager, design team and the general contractor.
