Marathon runner and former president of the Knoxville Track Club Douglas Charles Mooney has died at age 72.
Mr. Mooney was born in Providence, R.I., moved to New York, then to Florida where he graduated from the University of Florida in 1976, and finally to Tennessee. He had a 40-year career in insurance who will be remembered as a family man, a poet and a coach of youth sports.
He volunteered for the U.S. Army and served in Vietnam.
The family will receive friends from 5-6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 8, at the Click Funeral Home, Middlebrook Chapel, with a memorial service to follow at 6:30. Additional obit information is here.
