After being rained out on their original date, the organizers of Sustainable South scored with a beautiful day and engaged visitors last weekend.
A free community event fit for children and adults at Sam Duff Memorial Park, Sustainable South spotlighted vendors and information to help live a more planet-friendly life. It also had fun activities for children, live music by the family band Chibi Kodama and the Knox Co. Jug Stompers, and food trucks.
Hosted by Andrew Wilson, a professional arborist and candidate for the City Council First District seat, the gathering had opportunities for political discussion, but nothing heavy-handed. Wilson says Sustainable South is an entity beyond his campaign, and he hopes to see it grow and thrive in SoKno.
The six-hour event had a steady stream of visitors – and no rain.
