- Ken Lowe, founder of HGTV and chair, president and CEO of Scripps Networks Interactive, has presented $3 million on behalf of the company to Dee Haslam, board chair of Lakeshore Park, for construction of a new scenic overlook at the park to be named for HGTV. - Adrienne Simpson-Brown has replaced Nikitia Thompson as a commissioner of the Knoxville Utilities Board. Thompson’s term ended in December. Simpson-Brown is deputy chief of the U.S. Probation Office in the Eastern District of Tennessee and is a graduate of the University of Alabama with a master’s degree in criminal justice. Simpson-Brown will serve alongside fellow KUB commissioners the Rev. Dr. Jerry Askew, Kathy Hamilton, Celeste Herbert, Sara Hedstrom Pinnell, Tyvi Small and John Worden.
- Mark Brown and Mal Alder have joined FMB Advertising – Brown as director of communications and Alder as social media manager. Brown has worked at Carson-Newman University since 1995. Alder is a 2013 graduate of UT in creative writing with a minor in journalism and electronic media. She also has completed Google Analytics certification.
