Attorney and community volunteer Robert M. “Bob” Stivers Jr., 73, died March 31, and a celebration of life is planned for 6 p.m. Thursday, April 4, at Central United Methodist Church. Visitation will follow.

Mr. Stivers practiced law for 50 years, serving as president of the Oak Ridge Bar Association and holding posts in numerous other professional organizations. He also served as a football official for high schools and colleges.

He served on the board of Habitat for Humanity and ran building crews almost every Saturday for 15 years. According to his obituary, he served on the board of the Urban League and delivered Mobile Meals for as long as he was able. He leaves his wife of 50 years, Beth Pettit Stivers, and many other family members and friends.
