This year marks the 50th anniversary of the combining of East and Austin high schools into Austin-East High School. Celebrations for alumni and current students marked Sept. 28, including the school’s homecoming game, a pre-game parade, and plenty of tailgating. Knox County Mayor Glenn Jacobs also turned out for the big night.
The pre-game parade included several alumni groups from Austin-East, including the first graduating class. Also marching were the school band, the homecoming court and many others.
Kariah Cook, one of the A-E cheerleaders, was announced as the 2018 homecoming queen during halftime.
The Roadrunners faced the Scott County Highlanders, with A-E topping the Highlanders 52-0. The final score was a perfect ending to a perfect evening.
