The town of Farragut has won a $325,000 grant that will be used for improvements at Anchor Park. Renovations will include a reconstructed and expanded restroom and entrance plaza and ADA access to the diamond and recreational fields. Construction should start in mid- to late 2019.
The grant, administered by the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation Recreation Educational Services Division, is funded by the state property recordation tax.
The Local Parks and Recreation Fund was established by the legislature in 1991 to provide local governments with funds to purchase land for parks, natural areas, greenways and recreational facilities. The funds may also be used for development of trails and projects in parks, natural areas and greenways.
All LPRF grands require a 50 percent match by the recipient.
Anchor Park has 15 acres for picnics, fishing and outdoor play.
