The Pellissippi Panthers defeated the defending regional champions Georgia Military College on October 26, 2024, with a score of 3-1 to achieve the men’s soccer team’s first-ever regional championship win.
Pellissippi State will host the NCJAA Division II Southeast District championship game this Saturday, November 2, 6 p.m. at Knoxville Catholic High School against Cape Fear Community College.
The winner will advance to the National Junior College Athletics Association’s national tournament in Huntsville, Alabama, taking place Nov. 17-23.
“Having our men’s soccer team win their regional championship in our first year of post-season eligibility is almost unheard of,” said Brock Evans, Panthers athletics director. “The job that men’s soccer head coach Abdessamad Tizaf and assistant coach Jonathan Netherland have done, along with their players, is nothing short of historic. We cannot wait to host the district championship, and hope to see the Knoxville community come out to support our team.”
Pellissippi State Community College is a public community college based in Knox and Blount counties in Tennessee and operated by the Tennessee Board of Regents. The college operates four campuses: Hardin Valley, Blount County, Strawberry Plains and Magnolia Avenue.
