What an ending! While on vacation this summer, I stayed awake until 2 a.m. to finish The Unraveling by Vi Keeland, and the ending caused me to sit up in bed and whisper/ shout, “no way!” The next morning at breakfast, I forced my friend to download the Kindle version and read it as soon as possible. She finished the book later that day and had the same reaction.
Vi Keeland is a No. 1 New York Times, No. 1 Wall Street Journal, and USA Today bestselling author in the romance genre, and her website tagline is “Romance that will make you blush.” The Unraveling is her debut in the thriller genre, and a couple of scenes may make a reader blush.
After a tragedy, psychiatrist Meredith McCall develops an unhealthy obsession with a man connected to the event. He seems normal, even happy, while her world has fallen apart. When he makes an appointment to see her, Meredith is surprised and then stunned when he does not recognize her. Should she cross moral and ethical boundaries and take him as a patient? Once she crosses the first line, it becomes easier to cross others.
Dr. McCall is playing a dangerous game, but is she the only player? The less the reader knows before reading the first paragraph the better.
