The boathouse canoes bobbed as if on a carousel. The wake herded them into a reflective formation at Price Lake on the Blue Ridge Parkway near Blowing Rock, North Carolina. It was the end of the day at the boat concession as the calendar inched closer to Labor Day, the end of summer.

After starting the day in a sweatshirt, the afternoon temperature was a perfect 78 degrees. Cooler weather, shorter days and a bunch of painting events signal the change of seasons. Bittersweet for me. I love the warmth of long summer days and the freedom it brings savoring every last barefoot day.

This week is downtown Knoxville’s First Friday Art Walk, so we will be in our studio until 9 p.m. Chris and I both have some new pieces so stop in and see what we have been creating.

Photographer Chris and painter Robin Rohwer each week share a painting or photograph that captured their interest in hopes that it will also capture yours. They have a small studio and gallery in the Phoenix Building at 418 South Gay Street where you can stop and see their work. Their website is www.ChristopherRobinArts.com. All works are copyright protected.
