Amiel Joseph “Joe” Dent, 79, of Knoxville, Tennessee, passed away at home on July 4, 2024. A lifelong educator, Mr. Dent retired as principal of Rocky Hill Elementary School after 35 years with Knox County Schools.
He recently celebrated 50 years of marriage to his wife, Mary Ann. Joe was a member and a deacon of First Baptist Church Knoxville. He received his bachelor’s degree from Rhodes College and earned his master’s degree at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, July 10, 2024, at Rose Funeral & Cremation – Mann, 6200 Kingston Pike, Knoxville. There will be a graveside service for all family and friends at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 11, at Highland Memorial Cemetery, Sutherland Avenue, Knoxville.
