Basics of nature photography

Jay FitzAnderson, Our Town Outdoors

Learn to shoot like a pro with your phone at the upcoming “Basics of Nature Photography” scheduled for 5-7 p.m. Thursday, July 25, at Norris Dam State Park. These classes fill up fast, so get registered.

Join Park Ranger Hailee Huffstetler for a nature photography class where you’ll learn photo enhancement techniques and then apply them in a field session. The cost is $15 (bring your own phone).

Huffstetler says: “We will be hosting about an hour-long presentation discussing different ways to take pictures from your phone and how to edit them to where they look like they came from a professional camera. After the presentation, we will make our way around the Visitor’s Center to practice what we learned from the class.

“If you would like to take notes, we encourage you to bring your own pen and paper. Make sure to wear appropriate clothes and shoes for the walking portion. As well, bring water!”

This is just one of literally hundreds of programs, low-cost or free, available at state parks this summer. Get Norris Dam State Park events here.
