Girl Scouts offers array of summer camps

Each summer, hundreds of girls visit Camp Tanasi, which offers a spectrum of camps and activities for girls who want to grow and explore new adventures in a supportive environment.

This year, Camp Tanasi is hosting six weeks of camps starting on June 9, and attendees do not have to be a Girl Scout to attend.

New for 2024 is the Me and Mine Camp, where an adult female relative or friend will get to experience camp with a student camper and try many activities, including crafts and swimming.

Another popular option is Camper Sampler, which is a good way to try camp for the first time since it’s just two nights and offers a range of activities from boating and swimming to working on science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) activities.

“Girl Scout camps teach life skills and allow growth through trying new things,” said Amanda Johnson, director of program strategy and development for Girl Scouts of the Southern Appalachians. “Camp helps to build self-confidence and lets girls bond with other kids their age – and they’re lots of fun!”
