Things are hopping at the library this month with Saturday programs, Knoxville Symphony Orchestra’s Musical Storytimes and even lessons in decluttering. Plus, April is National Poetry Month, so we’re celebrating with a verse or two. Here’s a quick list of upcoming events:

Saturday Stories and Songs:

If you can’t get to the library during the week, we’ve got you covered. Join us each Saturday for a variety of talented storytellers, musicians and performers.

Basics of Decluttering Workshops

Where did all of this stuff come from? How do I even begin getting rid of it? If you’ve asked yourself these questions, you may want to attend this workshop. Emily Laco, certified organizational specialist, will offer strategies to guide you through the decluttering process. You’ll walk away with tools to tackle the clutter in your home and see the benefits of being in control of your space.

  • April 4 | Bearden | 11:00
  • April 6 | Cedar Bluff | 1:00
  • April 11 | Karns | 3:00
  • April 17 | Powell | 4:00

Podcasts and Poetry

Celebrate National Poetry Month with us. Take a short break from your daily routine and enjoy a verse or two. KCPL Reference Librarian and poet in his own right, Alan May hosts a monthly poetry podcast called The Beat in which each poet reads their own work. This month features poets Iliana Rocha and Delmira Agustini.

Also, join us on Monday, April 8, for a special poetry session of our monthly All Over the Page program at 6:30 at Lawson McGhee Library. We will have readings and discussion from two different poets. Valediction by Linda Parsons and Reaching the Shore of the Sea of Fertility by Anna Laura Reeve.
