Built as the Peter Kern Bakery in 1876, the Oliver Hotel sits on Market Square and Union Avenue. Once an ice cream parlor, a drugstore and a dance hall, so elegant and solid, it’s a wonderful place to stay when visiting or exploring Knoxville. Painted to pay respect to the beautiful architecture, the historic Arnstein Building provides the backdrop.

Are you aware there is a secret bar, The Peter Kern Library, inside? Perhaps that will be another painting, but I will need a password.

This week is the First Friday Art Walk. Our studio will be open until 9 p.m. so please stop in.

Photographer Chris and painter Robin Rohwer each week share a painting or photograph that captured their interest in hopes that it will also capture yours. They have a small studio and gallery in the Phoenix Building at 418 South Gay Street where you can stop and see their work. Their website is www.ChristopherRobinArts.com. All works are copyright protected.
