A Blount County farm leader has died. Mike Connatser, 69, passed away November 20, 2022.
Mr. Connatser established J & M Windy Acres in 1970, farming jointly with his dad, and was known for high performing Simmental and Angus cattle. Most recently, Mike and wife Phyllis were known for producing and selling brown eggs in East Tennessee.
He started artificial inseminating cattle for Southeast Select Sires in 1974 as a part-time technician. He then became full-time and retired in 2015 after a 40-year career.
He was Blount County Soil Conservation Board chair from 1994-2002, and he served as Tennessee Simmental Association president for 20 years.
